From Tinkering in a Garage to International Success

Founded in 2013 in a garage in Vienna by Marcus Ihlenfeld and Christian Bezdeka—both dads and both mad about bikes—woom has now blossomed into an international company. They are represented in 30 countries, including Austria, Germany, and Switzerland as well as Scandinavia, Spain, France, Italy, the USA, China, and elsewhere.

Their story began with the decision of Bezdeka and Ihlenfeld to develop a bike for their kids that would perfectly fit the proportions and riding behavior of children.

In 2013, the time was finally right: Christian, a trained biomedical technician with a degree in industrial design and years of experience within the bike industry, and Marcus, who up to that point had been a marketing manager within the automotive industry, founded woom in a garage in Vienna.

After Christian struggled to find enough statistical data online about the anatomy of children, he developed his own size tables to perfectly adapt the bikes to the needs of children. 

Even before founding woom, Marcus taught some 200 children how to ride a bike on the street right in front of the garage, allowing them to experience that magical moment.

The woom GO bikes include an innovative progression of two different balance bikes and four pedal bikes specifically crafted for beginners. From the new colors on each model to the redesigned saddle and grips on the GO 1 to the child-friendly gear indicator on the GO 4, each model has been refined to provide a safe, easy, and intuitive riding experience for the youngest children and to grow with riders as they improve their skills.
