Use the SpeedPlay Protector Shim Kit for shoes with carbon soles to protect the carbon from abrasion. They install in between the cleat and baseplate on a 3-hole shoe and go between the sole and cleat on a Speedplay specific 4-hole shoe. These protectors also makes it easier to clean Speedplay cleats and keeping Speedplay cleats clean helps them perform more reliably. This Carbon Sole Protector Shim Kit will work with the newer V.2 cleats and is backward compatible to older cleats.
