Peloton Magazine Aria E-Road Review

The Bianchi Aria E-Road bike is really starting to turn some heads in the bike world!

Here’s a little rundown of the Aria E-Road bike.

The good folks at Peloton Magazine took their time to review the Bianchi Aria E-Road.

As you can see in the video from Peloton, the Aria E-Road is a ROAD BIKE! This is not a clunky, heavy e-bike that many of your customers may have in their heads when they hear “E-Bike”. These are performance machines that ride like the performance road bikes that they are! There are other “Road E-Bikes” out there that have big downtube batteries and mid-drive motors that ARE akin to “traditional” e-bikes. But, these are not!

The Aria E-Road provides power when the rider needs it, to power up climbs that may otherwise be limiting to some riders and does nothing to hold that same rider back when the hub-based motor is not engaged. With a small, 7-pound weight penalty, most riders will never notice the added weight and it does virtually nothing to the handling of this bike. The dramatic improvement in climbing capability more than overcomes the small weight penalty.

Many folks have been curious about the range of the Aria E-Road. Peloton tested it out with generous use of the battery and they got 52 miles and 2500 feet of elevation before the system went into battery save mode, manually reducing assist level to conserve battery. This is more than enough to get through most weekend warrior rides and that range can be extended by closer focus on assist levels and conservation of battery power. The range can also be further extended by adding auxiliary batteries that are available for purchase aftermarket.

This is just the beginning of what will be an explosive E-Road market! Expect to see an expansion from many brands as this technology gets further developed and bikes are designed! We’ve already seen other brands release their versions of E-Road bikes, some of which use the ebikemotion X35 platform that’s used in the Aria E-Road. This is the future of road bikes as we know them!

Many road, MTB, and other bike purists love to hate on these bikes. They think that you have to “earn your turns”. They think that e-bikes are going to kill bikes as we know them. They think that they destroy the sanctity of road riding. Hogwash. These bikes are a revolution to cycling, allowing fitness challenged riders to participate in the beautiful sports that we love! They are the future and, potentially, the savior of cycling as we know it!

And, as they said at the end of the video, more people on bikes is a good thing!
