2023 Specialized Turbo Levo SL 24-Inch Kids’ E-Mountain Bike Review

Specialized just released their first kids’ e-bike, the Turbo Levo SL 24 HT! This scaled-down Levo SL is a pint-sized version of the Levo SL designed specifically for the little rippers of the world.

Specialized wants kids to be able to enjoy their parents’ favorite trails and enjoy the sport together while allowing the little ones to keep up or even lead the ride. The Turbo Levo SL 24 HT is built on the same platform as Specialized’s adult e-bikes, so it has all the great features you’ve come to love, including customizable assist modes if your partner in crime is less experienced. It comes with a default top speed of 10 mph but that can be adjusted up to 15 mph for more advanced riders. It’s the perfect way to complete any family adventure.

The Turbo Levo SL 24 HT utilizes years of data gathered by designing bikes and Specialized’s Retül fit system to create a bike perfect for the growing rider. It has low stand-over and geometry for shorter bikers to ride with confidence and to give taller riders a fun and nimble machine. The Turbo Levo SL 24 HT is primarily designed for riders from 48-60 in. (122-152 cm) in height. Everyone knows that if the kids aren’t having fun, no one is. You can be confident this bike will give them the power, comfort, and longevity to ride all day.

Comfort and a smooth ride are the premium components offered on the Turbo Levo SL 24 HT. It features a RockShox 100mm air fork for true off-road performance and comfort. Being an air fork, the RockShox is highly adjustable—a convenient feature as your kid grows. The Turbo Levo SL 24 HT comes with an 11-speed SRAM NX drivetrain for reliable power transfer and wide-range gearing for any terrain. The hydraulic disc brakes, also from SRAM, offer adjustable reach to fit a variety of hand sizes and provide consistent and reliable stopping power to ride safely.

Last but certainly not least is the Turbo drive system. The motor is the Specialized SL 1.2, the same as the adult Levo SL, with specific tuning for young riders. The top speed of the Turbo Levo SL 24 HT out of the box is 10 mph, but if the rider is older or more capable, that can be adjusted up to 15 mph in store. Since it is built on the same Turbo platform as Specialized’s other e-bikes, it is fully compatible with their Mission Control app, which offers great features like the ability to customize support in different assist levels and Turbo System Lock to completely disable the electronics without your personalized pin. This helps deter thieves (or someone sneaking out for an after-bedtime ride). The battery is 320Wh and sports an impressive five-hour range for true all-day riding with the family.
