SRAM Rival eTap AXS, This Shifts Everything!

SRAM has just extended their lineup of wireless shifting components to their Road lineup with Rival eTap AXS! Adding to the higher-end Force and Red options, Rival eTap AXS takes wireless shifting and puts it in a package that’s easier for more riders to approach. The same design, the same intuitive shift logic, the same AXS personalization and customization using the companion setup app, the same everything. The difference comes in the materials used, resulting in a slightly higher weight than the more expensive groups.

Mullet Compatible!

Never fear, just like all of the other eTap AXS parts, this new Rival group is fully compatible with any other part of the AXS ecosystem. So, if you want the full 10-52 range offered by the MTB groups GX, X01, or XX1, do it up!

Let’s Take a Look

Not only do you now get the intuitive wireless shifting and innovative gearing of the AXS ecosystem, but SRAM has also added a Rival level power meter, and they’ve refined the Rival hydraulic disc brakes and improved the hood shape and lever adjustability to fit more hands. Super simple but full of features!

Rival eTap AXS – No More Wires!

The big story here is the wireless shifting of Rival eTap AXS. That’s right, no cables to run through your frame! Simply bolt the parts to your bike, pair them together, and you’re done! Dial in the limit screws on the derailleurs and it’s time to ride! Not only are there no cables to install, but there’s also no cables to stretch, no cables to corrode, and no cables to replace. Just set it AND FORGET IT!

Rival Crankset

If you don’t want a power meter, Rival offers X-Range alloy cranks in single, double, and wide configurations using the same DUB bottom bracket standard.

Rival AXS Power Meter

SRAM and Quarq have long been leaders in power meters but the cost of entry has been prohibitively high. But now that bar has been made more approachable for more riders with the introduction of the Rival AXS Power Meter.

This spindle-based power meter works off of the DUB bottom bracket system for compatibility with most bottom bracket standards. You will get 400+ hours out of the user-replaceable lithium AAA batteries, along with proven Quarq reliability and accuracy. Adding this power meter only adds about 40 grams to the standard Rival cranks and it’s IPX7 waterproof rated! You could submerge the power meter in water at 1 meter for 30 minutes so don’t worry about getting caught out in the rain or even the occasional river crossing!

There are double and 1x versions along with a 2x wide crank that can accommodate tires up to 700x45c or 27.5″ x 2.1″.

Rival AXS Power Meter Upgrade

Already have a SRAM AXS crankset? Pop on the Power Meter Upgrade and you get a left-side power measurement without having to purchase a whole new power meter crankset! We should be seeing this upgrade in the near future.

Available Chainring Combinations

The standard cranksets are available in both 48/35t and 46/33t configurations while the wide cranksets are available in a 43/30t configuration.

Rival XG-1250 Cassette

Pairing up with an XDR driver body, the XG-1250 cassette is a 12-speed, nickel plated full pin constructed cassette that delivers a durable and light X-Range cassette to the Rival family with a smoother progression through the gear range with more 1-step changes between cogs. Available in 10-30 and 10-36 ranges for almost any conditions.

Unique Gearing for More Useable Gear Range

By combining the 48/35t, 46/33t, or 43/30t cranksets with the X-Range cassettes, you end up with an overall wider range of useable gears, compared to the competition’s traditional “Standard”, “Compact”, and “Cross/Gravel” gearing.

Rival eTap AXS Front Derailleur

If you run a front derailleur on your bike, the all-new Rival eTap AXS front derailleur will move that chain between rings smoothly and efficiently. There is a regular Yaw trimless cage version for standard chainline cranks and a Wide version optimized for the wide cranksets used for wider tire bikes. Like all AXS parts, this derailleur can be customized to operate exactly how you want it to!

Rival eTap AXS Rear Derailleur

One Rival rear derailleur to rule them all! No matter the crank configuration; 1x, 2x, standard, wide, the Rival eTap AXS rear derailleur has you covered. Compatible with 10-28, 10-30, and 10-36 cassettes, the Rival eTap rear derailleur’s spring clutch will keep the chain firmly on the cog you want to be in and the X-SYNC pulleys will spin that chain smoothly and efficiently.

Flattop Rival Chain

By using the flattop design, the SRAM Rival chain is designed to be light, quiet, and strong. Use the same chain for 1x and 2x setups.
