You can find the mountain bike trails at Elm Creek at 1688 W Hayden Lake Rd in Champlin, MN. It’s important to note that the Elm Creek Park Reserve is a big park with a couple of different areas of recreation and the Mountain Bike Trailhead is on the northeast corner of the park, just west of highway169 and Hayden Lake Road.
The trailhead features paved and gravel parking lots and solar powered bottle filling pump. There’s both a vault and portable toilets and a bike repair station.
The Singletrack trails are part of the Three Rivers Park District system of parks and they are maintained by the amazing volunteers of MORC, the Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists. Like many of the trails in Minnesota, MORC is a huge asset to the Mountain Bike community and they deserve all of the praise that we can send their way! Check out their website at MORCMTB.org and consider a membership or, better yet, show up for a trail-work session! Or, you know, BOTH! Membership and trailwork info can all be found here.
You can shred approximately 14 total miles by riding all of the stacked singletrack loops in one ride. But, the cool thing about Elm Creek is that these stacked loops can be ridden individually, and sections can be repeated, if you would like. All of the trail intersections are marked with signs telling you which turn to take and how much mileage you will be in for! Head into the woods for a quick rip or pack in the snacks and stay all day! The choice is yours, and they’re all good!
Sprinkled all throughout the singletrack at Elm Creek are super fun advanced features that will test your skills as a rider. There are tons of little bumps that you can pump through to gain speed or you can launch off of for added fun! There are log piles to cross over and log skinnies to get a rush off of! There’s even a super fun jump line with a few different ways to get an adrenaline boost!
Be sure to watch the full video above to get a sense of all the FUN you’ll experience riding Elm Creek. And then, pick a date to hit the trails in person for the real-deal! As always, we’re here for you if you need anything pre or post-ride and if you’re ready to upgrade your current mountain bike — you can check out all of our MTB inventory online here.
Swing by your local shop to gear up or stop by ERIK’S in Coon Rapids or Maple Grove — both are nearby Elm Creek.
