New Motor and Battery

Specialized is ushering in a new motor design they’ve dubbed the SL 1.2. The internal 320Wh battery of the 2023 Levo SL delivers a range of up to five hours (or 7.5 hours with a range extender external battery)—if that isn’t all-day potential, we don’t know what is! The motor isn’t just more efficient with 43% more torque; it’s also 33% more powerful and 34% quieter than previous Levo motors. The result is that you’ll get the power you need so naturally, seamlessly, and silently that you’ll feel superhuman, forgetting that your ride is amplified.

Levo SL Design

The 2023 Specialized Levo SL borrows its geometry from the award-winning Stumpjumper EVO design. The steering precision is unmatched, allowing the rider to snake through quick switchbacks and be confident on the big sends. The frame also incorporates adjustability features from the Stumpjumper EVO design. This includes two flip chips in the bike’s linkage and three position headset cups to adjust the geo for both personal preference and trail conditions. The rearmost flip chip will allow you to run a 29” wheel on the rear and keep the geo the same. The flip chip near the shock allows you to adjust the bottom bracket up and down, plus or minus 5 mm. Keeping it higher will allow for extra clearance over logs and boulders, and shifting it lower will provide increased stability through high-speed corners. Finally, the three-position headset cups allow you to change the effective headtube angle between 63º, 64.25º, and 65.5º. The steepest angle will help riders make it through tight, technical sections, while the slackest angle provides stability and control if the goal for your day is to rip the descents. Planning a “ride-everything” day? Set it to the middle for the best of both worlds.
